SLADE_Mascot9_17-14-34.jpgWelcome to the School of Liberal Arts, Department of English (SLADE) Pathways Explanation Wiki. SLADE tries to enhance students' communication abilities in English and to develop global perspectives by introducing intensive English education from the start and offering various courses in English. SLADE offers a rigorous academic program carefully designed to prepare students to have a broad knowledge of liberal arts, and to think critically and creatively, and to equip them to contribute to a globalized society with highly developed English language abilities. In this day and age whereby air travel, communication and technology connect the world so tightly, people everywhere benefit from having a greate understanding of the cultures and customs around the world. Our communicative environment is on along the lines of van Lier's (2000) idea of ecological education. One which expands beyond the physical classroom to the learner's whole enviornment keeping students immersed in the language and giving them opportunities to use the target language. In keeping with van Lier's principles of ecological education, we will look for new ways of teaching and practicing language education and expanding the learner's environment outside the classroom.
